SAT Paper

posted by tristan @ 10/31/2004 01:30:00 AM

Demoralising! I went to the College Board to attempt the Question of the day. Guess I will e signing up for it next year. BUt Fuck!

In a class of 80 seniors, there are 3 boys for every 5 girls. In the junior class there are 3 boys for every 2 girls. If the two classes combined have an equal number of boys and girls, how many students are in the junior class?

Its been like 3 years since i last touch mathematics and I tell you this question requires the X equation thingy. I got it wrong for my first attempt. Expected. I was chatting with my friend and posed this question to him. Goodness. He replied me within 2 mins with the right answer. And the diffculty level is Hard (trying to console myself) And slowly, he taught me the conversion:

30 + (3/5)x --> Boys
50 + (2/5)x --> Girls

30 + (3/5)x = 50 + (2/5)x

then....
I don't know why the equation changes to....

150 + 3x = 250 + 5x

Lets break it down..

You have to multiply by 5 to get rid of the denominator... and so you'll derive with the equation!
Until this stage, I begin to remember what was taught in Sec 3 and seriously regretted for dropping A maths..
No turning back now! Mrs Yeo (My Fave A and E maths Teacher) Where Are You??!

3x - 2x = 250 -150
x= 100 --> Answer

I feel soo stupid. My friend promise to teach me everyday now. A little at a time. Hmm, I'm still not sleepy yet. Perhaps this question will come haunting me when I close my eyes.. Nooooo!
Ok, be good tristan! Go to bed! Nitez People!

The Story About Ovaltine and Milo

posted by tristan @ 10/26/2004 10:06:00 PM

Hey all, how are you guys doing? Back blogging. Well, my throat is better now but not my cough. Hmm, there's so many tibits filled up in the cabinet waiting for me plus the Chocolate and Caramel Ice-cream waiting in the freezer. I can hear it shouting for my name "tristan, EAT ME UP" Awww man, i can't resist the temptation.

Anyway, went out for lunch with my colleagues and then proceeded to Cold Storage to stock up our office. You know, this is my 2nd time tagging along and I really love it. Coz' imagine the whole trolley is filled up with goodies, goodies and more goodies. As i was strolling along the drinks section, I was told a story about Ovaltine and Milo...... Once upon a time.......

  • Introduction
Let me ask you guys a question, who do you think existed in the market first? Ovaltine or Milo?
If your answer is Milo, I'm sorry. You're wrong. Ovaltine (also known as Ah-Hua-Tian) existed way before I came into this world. It was like my Mum and Dad generation kind of drink. Back then, Ovaltine was a relatively popular drink. Or should I say, its like a breakfast drink that everyone can't do without.

Being the sole player, Ovaltine monopolise the market. Popularity and demand rises and they see the word "SUCCESS". Their staff became arrogant and thinks too highly of themselves. The founder of Ovaltine decided to teach them a lesson.

  • What did the Founder do?
The founder went to Nestle, selling its secret formula to them. What was his intention in making this move? He just hope to scare the hell out of Ovaltine staff and wake them up with new competitors in the market.

  • What did Milo do to acheive its success?
With the secret formula in hand, Nestle decided to make good use of it. Intensive marketing campaigns set in, being a major sponsor in sports event, soon, everyone starts to know who MILO is. (Remember those days in Primary or Secondary school sports day? Who do you see outside the stadium? Its the Milo truck. Right?) And soon, Milo captures the taste bud of many people, Ovaltine? I bet they only stand 2% in the market now.

  • Lesson to be learn

Mind your own business. Not everyone is kind enough to play with you in the market.

And Milo live happily ever after.

Ok, that's all for today. Update soon.
Out~

Finally, after a year of waiting. She's back. I'm sooo excited and can't wait for 29th October to be here. Sun Yanzi latest self titled album will be out next Friday 29th October. I'm gonna rush to HMV the moment I'm off from work. Gonna be the 8th album queuing on the special "Stefanie" rack I have in my room. I reckon this would be a great album. Rest for a year and back with good stuff. Yes, self admit. I am crazy over her. I have been anticipating badly.
Hee hee. Hmm, some stars attract fans with their appeal (handsome or beautiful) but Yanzi ain't beautiful. She is just a very special girl, with unique voice and personality.

Catch her latest MV here >>

Perhaps I have been sleeping way too much yesterday. The 6 hours of sleep since 3am seems enough. I didn't sleep well. My throat hurts since Friday and I'm down on a fever. 37.9 degree celcius. Went to the doctor. Though I have MC, but I still pushed myself to work. Boss have organised company BBQ once, but I didn't turn up. If I didn't turn up this time round, its gonna be disappointing to them? I have done something stupid on friday morning. Intake 2 times of the cough syrup. result? Drowsiness. Gosh~ I was sooooo sleepy that I lied on the sofa for 10 mins. Motionless.

Yesterday was Agnes birthday. My sickness somehow dampen the atmosphere. But thats not what I wanted. Really. Anyway Happy 19th Birthday to this girl. Something bothers me when I stepped into Agnes's house. My attention all falls on the dying hamster. It was lying there, staring blankly. It seems to be conveying a message "Help me". Every breathe seems so precious to the poor little thingy. A word can describe how I feel at that moment - Helpless. But if I could do something, I had rather give a jab and put it to sleep. Now the thought of it returns and I wonder, what will I do if I were to see my hamster in such a state? I can't imagine.

Not a nice weekend really. I need some remedy to cure my throat. The lactose given by the doctor doesn't seems to work miracle. Hmmmm.. Sigh~

Gamble your life away!

posted by tristan @ 10/20/2004 08:53:00 PM

wowowo! tomorrow is thursday again. Time past extremely fast this week. Hmm, went to Ikea yesterday. Thought of getting a new table, but it was too heavy and I was feeling extremely tired to bring it back home. There were just soooo many things I want to get. Hope to refurbish my room soon. Something happened on my way back home. Received a call from kel that J is having some financial trouble and he would appreciate if i could lend him some money. Well, i agreed of course. But I was thinking about this matter again after transferring the fund. At the age of 19, why does J need to resort to gambling? Yes, I think everyone agrees that the amount of returns in a game is massive. Provided if Luck is on your side. Small betting amount is still alright, just treat it like a game of luck or so. But why put in a few k in a game. This is extremely crazy. And what now? Lose it and can't cover the debts on time? Hello! Get a life. I really hope J had learnt his lesson though this is the 3rd time. Yes, it pains to work, but don't you find this is more practical? Everyone is looking for a short-cut in life. Some excel, while some fall badly. I still prefer the safer route to success. Personally, i feel that, as long as you're willing to put in the amount of time and effort, your will be hardwork will be recognise in no time.

Monday Blues.

posted by tristan @ 10/18/2004 11:05:00 PM

I'm home. Walked to City Hall to take a bus home with Agnes. Talked a lot on our way home, we were simply too tired that we dozed off on the ride. Swaying from left to right. Unconcious! haha! Anyway, guess a chalet is coming up guys. But like i was telling nes, somehow, I am not feeling as excited as before. I just have a kind of feeling that says "we're taking for the sake of taking, because we see friends around us taking it" I don't know where had all my commitment and energy gone for the past 4 months. Still trying hard to search for it.

Nes came to my house. Dad mistaken her as my girlfriend. laugh out loud~ Mum keeps questioning me like I'm a criminal. They have really bad memory. Perhaps its been years since all these friends last dropped by my house huh! How about a Christmas party to at my house to refresh their memories? Anyway, flipped through the photo album which is lying at the corner, collecting dust. I have no time to change to the new album. Ok, I am just lazy. I'm feeling a little tired. There's a meeting tomorrow. Gotta turn in early.

Beauty is Love
==============
A friend of mine married a very young and beautiful model, all of us envy him with jealousy... but to our surprise, they have divorce a few months later. Before long, he married again. This lady is a simple and normal girl, infact short and a bit plump. But to my surprise, their love to each other is so deep."Don't you think your ex-wife is much more prettier?", I asked."I don't think so. All I know were that when my ex-wife lose her temper, glare her eyes like lollipop... she looks awfully ugly and scary.", he replied. "It's still my present wife better and more adorable. She is pretty in my eyes, elegance and a virtuous wife and mom-to-be."Girls, you aren't adorable because you are beautiful. You are beautiful because you are adorable. The son will not mind his mom is ugly, the dog will not mind his home is poor, the Eskimos will not mind the freezing coldAlaska. As long as you love that person, as long as you love that piece of land, you will find it beautiful. Beautiful is Love!

Tennis + Endless walking.

posted by tristan @ 10/16/2004 11:53:00 PM

Yoo hoo. Just got home... I really need a good rest tomorrow. Woke up at 905am. Getting ready for the tennis game. Did enjoy myself though it was my first time in this sport. Of coz, bound to encounter stupid moments, aiming perfectly.. Swoof, and hitting the air! lol. Went home straight after the game to get ready for tuition. Quite a number of things to prepare tomorrow. Student exams is coming. hmmpff~

Head off to town at 430pm. Met Hui and Kelly at LJS. Kelly's legs was wobbling from hunger. Haha. Yeah, I finally got my Braun Buffel wallet at Meritus Mandarin. *ka ching* $86. Hmmm, i hope the deadly spell won't be cast on the wallet. Coz' some superstitious people just believe that changing wallet will end up to be broke, broke and really broke. Endless walk at Orchard. Then went to East Coast Hawker Centre for dinner. Not bad. Oh, thanks to Kel's Brother Love for the effort to drive us there. It was a roller coaster ride w/o much O². Thanks anyway. Save transportation cost.

Ok, my friends SIP is starting next week. Wish them well and work hard ya. Happy reflecting with the purple-ish LOG BOOK! *evil grin*
I think my attention span to listen to others is getting shorter and shorter. Don't know why! Sometimes i am just sooo simply distracted and totally turn off. And also to my friends, whatever misunderstanding, unhappiness or whatever is on your mind, try to solve it. Really, I think you all should really sit down and have a good talk with one another. (count me out) hahahahaha! You know who you are.

Ok, my eyes are closing..... (-_-) Yawnnnn.. OooOoooOooo. Wan An~

Happy

posted by tristan @ 10/13/2004 11:18:00 PM

Happy but definitely missed a great shopping trip. Initially suppose to tag along with my aunt to Bangkok last friday. But for some reason, I have to give it a miss. Aunt is back, she told me about the shopping trip and guess what? she bought me a watch and I love it so much. Shit! i've missed out great fun.

Went home at about 415pm today. Not much of work to do, so was told to leave early. hahaah! The aircon is not functioning well. It's god damn humid. Really feel like going to Ting's house to join in the fun. Aww man!

Hey, Motorola release the COOLEST mobile I've ever seen. It's so slim (like me) and the keypad is god damn cool! Irresistable. But such irresistable phone comes with a high price. $1288 for a new plan/upgrade! :(

The weather is nice and cooling tonight. Off to bed. Good nite!

I Surrender~

posted by tristan @ 10/10/2004 11:33:00 AM

Deem as an unsupportive friend. That's not I want. Feels so helpless. You see your friend falling into a pit. An offer to help and hoping to bring some senses but "If one day I were to succeed, I know who's supportive and who's trying to bring me down" Never will I have the intention to bring you down. "Trying to bring me down" revolved in my mind. A sleepless night accompanied with soft sobs.

Perhaps what kelly said is true "As we grow, the wants in us grow as well, and there's eventually a limit to what you can offer to help". Time passed, people changed. Some changed for good, while some changed, unrecognisable. We know you will never come back again, but we are still longing for this day to come. Silently.

I can't handle these friendship like I used to be. "unsupportive, trying to bring me down" that's how people see me after 6 years of Friendship. Did you even make the effort to find out what we want, why we care? I don't mean to stereotype you, but you are telling, I can simply do without friends as long as love exist. If friendship is important to you, you would have make the little effort. But you don't. Only in times of need, we are being called as a Friend. Friends are dead when love exist.

I surrender~

I'm hoooommmmmeeee! Dead beat! Totally exhausted. 2 full days filled with activities. Lets see...

Friday:
Woke up at 9:15am. Gonna be in deep shit. Coz' tzewei already warned no late-coming. Her "what the hell" message scare the hell out of me! Anyway, I was liked 10mins late. I thought the whole meeting was soooo tense up yesterday. Recently just really love lying in bed and soooo lazy to get up. The 2 alarm clock are simply useless. Stop blaming the alarm tristan, you're useless. After the project meeting, went to Fish & Co for a celebration. FYP + End of SIP + Jonny's Birthday. The Corriander Catch simply sucks! It's filled with a greeny stuff. Luckily there's garlic avail which is so overwhelming. After lunch, bought a cake for Jonny and I suggested to put the "candle holder" into the cake and Jonny is suppose to bite it using mouth ONLY! wahahaa. I'm mean right? Nevertheless, we had fun. 2 pictures were taken. But I'm lazy to upload. So... wait for it then. Slack and chit chat till 3:30pm. Went to shop around and finally got ourself landed up at CS arcade. Erm, I have totally ZERO interest in gaming. really. I always thought its a waste of money. So I'm always standing by their side, watching.

Everyone were heading home at 530pm. I was shocked when I called Agnes and she's still in bed snoring aloud. God~ So I decided to drop by Esther's void deck and get her down to accompany and catch up. Nice having her around and we never run out of topic. Talked about Disneyland, talked about her upcoming SIP and some other stuff. 625pm. Time to go. Waited for Agnes for half an hour at MRT station. Thanks!

Benny was already sitting there next to a group of skaters. Tease "Where's your skateboard?" Went to get 3 tix for Wimbledon. Received a lot of negative feedback. It ain't bad afterall. A heart-warming love story. Sometimes I thought, are we able to see such cool couple in this world? My ratings: 3 star out of 5. I totally hate Exorcist. Don't even mention about watching that ya? So what if its FREE? Over my dead body. Hahaha! To my surprise, Braun Buffel closed at 845pm. Its a little early huh? There goes my wallet. I can't find the Adidas sweater as well. Ahhhhh!!!!!!!!! Not my shopping day. After the movie, went back alone. Managed to catch the last train and last bus. Lucky moi! Lied flat on the bed when I got home at near 1am. Motionless. 16 1/2hrs out there! Whew!

Today:
Set alarm at 830am. But got up at 915 instead. Stuff all my belongings into the bag, had a quick breakfast and left for tuition. Tuition ends at 1130am, went straight to Bugis to meet ting and en. Hahaha, Surprise Surprise Surprise. Met en on the train. Her estimation is always soo good. She board the train at the middle platform. Coincidence. Oh ya, recently I really saw lotsa gerls wearing this cowboy hats with mini-skirt. As if they're some hookers. I don't give a damn. It disgust me. Gan Xie Ni~ their fanciful hat always reminds me of the 70s or 80s chinese superstar, Fong Fei Fei! wahahahahhah!!!!
Went to the temple to pray. Tingting seems to have a lot to say to the God huh! Ting and I had Korean food for lunch. It taste good. Yum Yum especially my favourite, Kim-Chi! Shopping Spree!!!! I managed to get some clothes from Levis and Freshbox. Love it man! Those DDP fans, they're on sales, and its real cheap. I saw a brown shirt which I fall in love with. But the cutting seems to be a little weird. I suspect they're handicap? Saw quite a number of people today, Junhui and long lost brother, Julian. Good to see them man, and they're in tip-top condition. Plus, Esther and Shuiyi. Surprise surprise surprise.

Off to meet Kel, hui and Nes at Tamp. Slack at Mac till 7pm. Sis kel is having some kind of trouble which bring her to tears. I'm really not experience in relationship and sometimes I feel so helpless to see them in tears. What I can say is, there bound to be ups and downs, don't give up on the other half unless your heart has totally given up. I still believe that communication is the key to sucessful relationship. Always let the other half know how you feel, don't keep them to yourself. Coz' some people are just seriously insensitive. And I love this quote from hui "If you're not prepared to be tied down on a relationship, then don't get into one" How true can this be. I bought the Davidoff Cool water perfume at a really good price. Fuck! But I saw the Swiss Army after buying the Davidoff! Darn. Not my luck. But I still love Coolwater (Trying to comfort myself)

So I'm gonna take a really good rest. Need to get myself prepared for work on Monday as well as my students exams. Are you able to digest my blog today? Or are you dozing off soon? haha! OK, take care people. Viva La Fiesta~ Cheerios!

Good Day!

Heyhey! Its a great day today. Perhaps its because I have been sleeping well and replenishing all the lost radiance for the past week of late nights.

Lets see. I guess all my friends are pretty down lately and Cien is down on luck as well. But rest assure, good things will come to you soon. No worries, you still have ur bao bei and friends to stand by you okie? And to lian, guess you have been suffering as well huh? take good care ok? For those who really pissed her off lately, this dominant volcano is gonna erupt soon. If you're the lucky one, may god be with you. Don't take things for granted and keep thinking that she is one without temper. Yes, she do! Guess, all along in this friendship, she have been the one moderating all the bad ones and seems like she can't take it anymore. Don't let her hate you. It ain't worth it. And FYI, Hate is a strong word in my dictionary. Soooo......Hallehlujah, Hallehlujah Hallehlujah!

Had a coffee session late noon, i did enjoyed myself. Project meeting tomorrow, plus movie with Ben and Nes. Aiyer, I'm feeling like a BIG lightbulb. But Ben keeps asking me to go, so Nod Nod~.
Stupid chad, Orh Bee, Orh Bee, who asked u everytime never asked us out for a movie, now its your turn to be lonesome! wahahaha [Evil laughter!]
K, got to go. take care. Enjoy your holidays aite? Well, time past sooo fast and I'm relunctant to go back to work. Coz' I haven't enjoyed as much as i wanted.

The Power Of Love

posted by tristan @ 10/06/2004 04:31:00 PM

A girl and a boy were on a motorcycle, speeding through the night.
They loved each other a lot..

Girl: " slow down a little.. I'm scared.."
Boy: "No, it's so fun.."
Girl: "please..it's so scary.."
Boy: "Then say that you love me.."
Girl: "Fine..I love you..can you slow down now?"
Boy: "Give me a big hug.."
The girl gave him a big hug.
Girl: "Now can you slow down?"
Boy: "Can you take off my helmet and put it on? It's uncomfortable and it's bothering me while i drive."

The next day, there was a story in the newspaper. A motorcycle had crashed into a building because its brakes were broken. There were two people on the motorcycle, of which one died, and the other had survived...The guy knew that the brakes were broken. He didn't want to let the girl know, because he knew that the girl would have gotten scared. Instead, he was told the last time that she loved him,got a hug from her, put his helmet on her so that she can live, and die himself...

I am extremely exhausted. My report is finally done. 1 done 1 more to go. That's FYP proposal which is due next wed! Woke up like 930am this morning. Back to office, can't imagine Raymond totally forgot I'll be in the office today. Anyway, chat with Tracy and Hazel while waiting and she shared with me about her trip to Bangkok during the weekend. Talked about the Tennis match she saw and wonder why Singaporean kids are not into this sport. I guess everyone have zero knowledge about this sports. For all I know, wimbledon exist. haha. Through the movie.

Met up with lian and ting. They had their paper earlier and were sitting in the Mac, munching the pathetic redeemed Burger from Mac! No cheese, no chilli sauce. They were like torturing themselves. I went to Yoshinoya for lunch, and gave them the pathetic Ebi Fritters treat. Pathetic, pathetic, it was pathetic. So small x6 = $2.70

Shop around. Came to realise I have plenty of things to get huh, watches, Adidas sweater, stocking up some clothings, Davidoff and Braun Buffel wallet. I intended to get a wallet, but to my disappointment "Out of Stock". It was like the first Braun Buffel wallet that I've seen and fell in love with. Cruel. So guess I'll be dropping by the Braun Buffel wallet shop at Meritus Mandarin later this week. Gonna cost a bomb~

K, gonna turn in now. Heading back to school later.
By the way, i played with a Japanese name converter thing with my mobile. Guess what's my Japanese name? It's Kuniyo Haruka. So you can call me Haru san for short okie. Cheesezzz..

Breaktime. It has been like more than 4 months since I last slept at 3am in the morning. My report is almost done. Yawn. I woke up at 12noon today and been lazing around, surfing the net, watching TV, playing with my hamster. Went out for dinner with mum and dad. Wah, I seriously missed out a lot of stuff for the past 4 months. So I'm taking this one week break to really put myself into relaxtion mode. There quite a few things I want to get actually. Watch, sweater and some new clothes to stock up my cupboard! Yeeaahh~

So, going back to office tomorrow morning, then back to school. Hmmm... was talking to lian just now and picking out potential people to go Phuket. I think you can see how desperate I am to go overseas with my friends... Its cheap. Accomodation must airfare adds up to 170bucks. Why not right?

Hmm. K, back to my report. Have a great week guys!

The Last Day

posted by tristan @ 10/03/2004 01:12:00 AM

Hmm, today marks the last day for SIP. Officially though mine ended yesterday. I'm struggling with my report now, but I would love to give my readers some update as well.

What do you expect from SIP? Well, it depends on which Co you are in, obviously. Mine? I self-secured my own placement in a Marketing Research Co, until today, I'm still confused if I have made the right choice. 16 weeks may seem long for some, but the truth is, its here in just winks and blinks. I started off having a hard time, really! Actually it ain't as scary but somehow my mentality ain't right. I grumble alot when I compare myself to those who receive loads a month, sitting back, surfing the internet for the whole day. But what will they get in the end? Nothing, they won't experience a single thing and see what's the real working world out there. How people can changed, how people can backstab one another. I've seen alot. I've been through hell loads. I get involve in a company meeting, I shake hand with clients, I had irregular lunchtime and ended up with gastric in the first week, I wash office's plates and cups more than what i do at home, I'm faced with loads of stress which somehow makes me a little stronger than before. Esther, her quote for me when I was down "its up to you to choose to work happily or in agony for the next 16 weeks" This simple yet powerful quote inspire me to put in a little more passion in my work. Thank you, esther. Muack! I thank the directors for giving me chances to prove my worth. They were satisfied with my performance. Now, another 8 weeks to go. This 8 weeks will be a little different from the past 16. My responsibilty is now heavier and I've got to work harder. I'm beginning to love myself, I love what my mum taught me since young, be responsible in my work... I love my attitude. I thank boy for supporting my decision in accepting the great offer for the next 8 weeks as well as listening to my grumbling. I thank hui and lian for listening to my sorrows at work. I thank my mum for making the effort for warming up dishes and soup when I'm home at 11pm and sitting there listening to what i've been through for the day. I thank the taxi driver who allow me to use mastercard payment for the first time in their life. I thank my colleague for feeding me with good food. I thank the directors again for bringing me to Raffles Hotel for lunch during my 3rd week. God~ Its an amazing place. I love to be there again... I thank I thank I thank.........................

Happy Children Day

posted by tristan @ 10/01/2004 10:31:00 PM

Hi all, Happy Children Day. On my way to work this morning, saw lots of children with their parents. Then i realised, oh! It's children day. Sometimes don't you just envy the lifes of children? Carefree, no worries, just sit and watch cartoons for hours. Their only worries i bet is homework.

Com'on lets relieve some of the precious moments that we've done during children day. Me? Well, I guess everyone will gather in the school hall for a Children's Day concert. Teachers will put on some silly acts and plays and we will just scream and shout at the top of our lungs. But honestly what do we love most? No, its not the acts or plays, neither is the teacher. We love their gifts. My bag is always filled with stationaries, chocolates, sweets and books. Slowly unwrapping them one by one, putting them nicely aside! kids are just kids. we simply love stationaries. Agree. But look at the condition a few weeks later, tattered and torn, eraser with animal's face - half gone, pencils with broken lids etc. That's our school life huh!

Ok, the moment i reached the office, I got a call from Ray. asking me to redo the whole report. I was cursing the clients silently. if you can see my nick on msn "hell, its a farking day". But still i manage to get things done by sacrificing my lunch. Fingers cross. I hoping I have the figures right. Stress!

Kelly just gave me a call few moments ago. Its always good to hear from her. She was asking me about her laptop and stuff and we started to talk and giggle and laughing out loud. Mum was staring at me strangely. This great friend of mine, never fails to amuse, amaze and put a smile on my face, even on the toughest day. Its a long story, but if you're interested, read on. I knew her since sec 1, and it WASN'T a love a first sight. It was more like a hate at first sight. She was very different from us and any of my classmates. Why? She was still in her Primary school uniform as she couldn't get one. She's loud and such an attention seeker. Hate you, I thought. But as time goes by, things turn out to be somehow unexpected. We get along really well. For certain reason, i was name as Xiao Ya Ya - Little Duckling. We had fun during class as well as in NPCC. Then until sec 2, we had a fight. Remember I don't come a good school and she's a AH LIAN ok. So can you imagine how our fight is like in the voicemail? With hokkien vulgarities thrown here and there. Asking for time and place to meet to pick on a fight. Stupid. But this fight eventually makes our friendship stronger. So until today, Kelly is really one of my best mate. A friend you can count on. Thanks Kelly!
